Unlock the Secret to Getting What You Want

You are currently viewing Unlock the Secret to Getting What You Want

I am not here today to teach you how to manipulate your way into getting what you want in life, but I am here to share with you some ideas around how you can become truly ready to receive the results of your wildest dreams and heartfelt desires. The truth of the matter is, that it doesn’t matter how burning your desire is for a particular outcome, if you haven’t done the groundwork to ensure your absolute readiness to receive, the fulfillment of those desires may be frustratingly slow. Put another way, unless you authentically feel worthy to receive the wonderful outcomes you desire, you will find it virtually impossible to align with the universal flow that can deliver said outcomes.

Feeling worthy and becoming ready to receive

When someone believes in their inherent value and worthiness as a human being, they naturally open the doors to receiving abundance in many different areas of life. But who decides if you’re worthy or not? Is there some kind of divine jury observing your thoughts and deeds each day and passing judgment accordingly? No, of course not, it’s YOU, you have full, unequivocal responsibility for whether or not you feel truly worthy to receive what you desire! Let me remind you here that you were born worthy, all of us were, and regardless of what has happened along the way, you have the power in each moment to decide for yourself whether you’re worthy or not… and whatever you decide, that will be your reality, no more passing the buck!

Our self-worth forms the foundation upon which we build our lives and our relationships, and not everyone navigates their growing years with a strong sense of worthiness. Now, this isn’t the time to wallow in past pain and start pointing the finger at who might be to blame for your struggles around not feeling worthy, that’s not my area of interest. I aspire to be a catalyst, not a therapist, when dealing with life challenges and I always encourage people (including myself) to look forward from this moment right now, so that we can take back control and take action to make the situation better. The looking back approach may highlight where you’ve been wounded but I have found that it doesn’t help me deal with the here and now and what needs to happen next. Focusing on what I can do now to strengthen my feeling of worthiness always feels way more empowering and opens the way to genuine understanding and transformation.

Learning to appreciate and love yourself

Admittedly, it’s not always that easy to simply ‘tell’ yourself to feel worthy to receive, so now we’re going to explore a few ways in which you can start to live more authentically and develop a more positive self-image and stronger sense of self-worth.

  • Cultivating self-acceptance: Becoming your authentic self, in my experience, is a life-long journey. Peeling back the layers of people-pleasing traits that I adopted from a very early age, and maintained well into my 30s, was the beginning of my commitment to discovering and sharing with the world a more authentic version of me. When you embrace your authentic self, you can truly appreciate your uniqueness, honouring both your strengths and your weaknesses side by side and not shying away from the inherent flawed nature that we all share. Time to acknowledge and accept with unconditional love your (many) imperfections and give your inner critic time off, so that you can begin to feel your own worthiness without need for external validation. Moreover, embracing your authentic you will help you to align more clearly with your greatest dreams and desires.

  • Celebrate your achievements: OK, with your inner critic now on a sabbatical, you get to enjoy time off from the negative self-talk that is really not helpful. You get to be kinder to yourself, more compassionate and able to see more clearly the many wonderful and positive qualities you indeed possess. Without the constant barrage of self-deprecating comments, you have ample opportunity to recognise and appreciate your accomplishments, no matter how small or insignificant they may seem at first glance. With conscious reflection you will see meaning and merit in those actions, and by recognising the real value in your efforts, your sense of worthiness will grow. Similarly, when you celebrate milestones in your life, it reinforces your belief in your abilities, boosting your self-confidence and bolstering your sense of worthiness.

  • Practice self-care: Caring deeply for yourself is at the heart of developing healthy levels of self-worth, and whilst this may seem like a straightforward solution, how many of you can say, hand on heart, that you commit to daily self-care practices to nurture your mind, body, and spirit? How often do you engage in activities that simply bring you joy? What steps do you take to combat the daily stresses and strains of life Do you prioritise good sleep, regular exercise and healthy eating? When you take good care of yourself every day, you are sending a message to yourself that you are ‘worth it’. It shows that you value your own well-being and subsequently this reinforces your sense of worthiness. Also remember to listen to your body, acknowledge your feelings and be guided by your intuition. The more you learn to trust yourself, the more your inner confidence and worthiness will grow, and this evolving inner wisdom will help you to align with your dreams, navigating the right path to your desires.

  • Challenging limiting beliefs: Feelings of unworthiness are often underpinned by limiting beliefs that have developed over many years and remain out of sight tucked away in your subconscious mind working relentlessly to prove that they are right. These limiting beliefs usually stem from past experiences, family/societal conditioning or from comparing yourself to others and unless challenged will have a detrimental effect on your own sense of worthiness. Identifying and reframing limiting beliefs is essential for rewriting your subconscious script around feelings of unworthiness and being worthy to receive good things in life. You’re going to have to do the work and be prepared to challenge those limiting beliefs, replacing them with affirming and empowering thoughts instead. Remind yourself that you are deserving of love, success, and happiness just as much as anyone else. Trust in your capacity to attract the good things in life and let go of the self-imposed barriers that hold you back.

  • Establishing healthy boundaries: setting boundaries in relationships is crucial for maintaining a strong sense of self-worth. For healthy, authentic relationships it is vitally important to communicate your needs, values, and limits to others. Sometimes you need to know when to say ‘no’ in order to embody a life of genuine respect for yourself and others. When you learn to set healthy boundaries and are strong enough to say ‘no’ (without worrying about whether they’ll still like you), it sends a message to others that you value yourself and that this strong of self-worth is non-negotiable.

  • The power of positivity: surrounding yourself with supportive and positive people can greatly impact your sense of worthiness. Time to audit your relationships and ditch the ‘nay’ sayers and critics who just want to keep you down. Toxic relationships will unquestionably undermine your self-esteem and perpetuate negative belief patterns. Be honest, be bold and spend much less time with those who make you feel bad about yourself and more time with those who want to celebrate you. Seek out relationships that uplift and inspire you. Develop supportive social networks that encourage your growth and help you believe in your own worth more and more every day.

  • Attitude of gratitude: Gratitude shifts your focus from scarcity to abundance, reminding you of the good things you already have and the wonderful things you deserve. By acknowledging and appreciating what you already have, you create space for more abundance to flow into your life. Gratitude is a powerful tool for showing the Universe that you are ready to receive in every possible way, opening your heart and mind to receive more blessings and opportunities on your journey. First thing in the morning, before you get sucked into the demands of the day, dedicate a few minutes to reflect on what you’re thankful for. This could be as simple as the comfortable mattress that just gave you an amazing night of replenishing sleep or waking up to the sleeping form of your favourite four-legged nestled by your pillow. Some days, feeling the gratitude may be harder than others, but rest assured your gratitude ‘muscle’ is like any other, the more you use it, the stronger it gets!

What an inspiring read this was! Massive shout out to Tosha Silver for reminding me of the magic and beauty of living in alignment with Divine Abundance. I loved listening to the audiobook but it’s available in paperback too for a more conventional read. There are some beautiful prayers and mantras to support you on your journey to feeling truly worthy of receiving everyday abundance.
